With testing now underway in Bahrain, the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team has officially unveiled the AMR26 livery. The team's challenger for the 2026 F1 season marks the first time it has had a car shaped by Adrian Newey's design philosophy.

His previous efforts have won 14 Drivers' and 12 Constructors' titles and 223 Grands Prix between 1991 and 2024, making Newey's move from Red Bull Racing to Aston Martin a potential game-changer.

Despite boasting a largely familiar design, the AMR26 will compete in a season that features the most significant overhaul the sport has seen in a generation, with new power units, aerodynamic rules, and sustainable fuels.

Aston Martin has also become a full works team, opening more design freedom and opportunity under the sport's next generation of technical regulations. Now supported by Honda, Aramco and Valvoline, all eyes are on whether Newey has dreamed up another Championship contender.

Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso return in 2026 for their fourth consecutive season as the team's driver pairing, with Jak Crawford stepping up as reserve driver following his second-place finish in the FIA Formula 2 Championship last season.

Adrian Newey, Managing Technical Partner and Team Principal, said, "2026 is a rare moment in Formula One because, for the first time, the chassis and power unit regulations have changed together. With brand-new regulations, the best philosophy is never immediately obvious, and your understanding evolves as the car develops."

"With the AMR26 we've taken a holistic approach: it's not about one standout component, but how the full package works together. The focus has been on strong fundamentals, development potential, and a car that Lance and Fernando can hopefully extract performance from consistently."

Alonso, meanwhile, added, "This is such an exciting new chapter for Aston Martin Aramco as we adapt to the new rules, new power units, and new ideas. With Lawrence and Adrian, we have two of the most determined and competitive people I have ever met leading the team."

The two-time Drivers' Champion acknowledged that "the past few years were not easy," but said his goal is to make Aston Martin "stronger and more competitive."

Lance, the son of team owner Lawrence Stroll, noted, "The 2026 regulations are a big change and a real challenge for all teams, so now it's about building our understanding of the car with the goal of continuing to bring performance upgrades throughout the season."

"It's great to be working with Adrian Newey and so many talented people at Aston Martin Aramco who are really pushing hard to make that happen," he concluded.
