F1 Miami Grand Prix Results: Kimi Antonelli Makes History In The Season's Most Chaotic Race

Today's Miami Grand Prix was brought forward to 1 pm local time due to forecasted heavy rain (despite some expected rain, conditions in the race itself remained manageable under cloudy skies).

Chaos erupted right from the start when Max Verstappen, battling Charles Leclerc for position off the line, spun and dropped back several places. Red Bull then decided to put the Dutchman, leaving the four-time World Champion to fight his way from 16th to 1st.

Unfortunately, with ageing Hard Tyres, Verstappen was unable to maintain his lead. Lando Norris mounted a strong challenge from fourth on the grid, with the McLarens once again proving competitive. Oscar Piasti battled his way to third in a race that saw Pierre Gasly, Liam Lawson, and Nico Hülkenberg all forced to retire (Gasly's Alpine flipped over after clashing with Lawson, prompting an early safety car).

Late drama defined the finish. As drivers pushed in the closing stages, Leclerc and George Russell encountered issues on the final lap; Leclerc spun, dropping from a potential podium contention to sixth, while Russell limped home fourth with damage. Following a stellar drive that saw him hold off Norris for a big chunk of the race, Kimi Antonelli crossed the line first, ahead of Norris, with Piastri third.

After overtaking a struggling Leclerc, Verstappen recovered to fifth despite his early spin. Franco Colapinto, meanwhile, achieved his best result to date with an eighth-place finish.

The 19-year-old Antonelli became just the third driver to have claimed his first three Grand Prix victories consecutively, following in the footsteps of former world champions Damon Hill and Mika Hakkinen.

While there's still room for improvement with this year's regulations, today's race was a noticeable improvement over previous efforts, with overtaking more a result of driver skill than an artificial boost that created a yo-yo effect with cars repeatedly swapping positions. Antonelli, meanwhile, is outshining Russell and now sits comfortably at the top of the Drivers' Standings.
