Simulator racing is widely regarded within the motorsport community as one of the purest expressions of motor racing. It enables dedicated racers to unite and compete on an international level for a fraction of the expense, offering equal chances for everyone involved.

While not the best film in the world, Gran Turismo showcased what a game-changer (no pun intended) that can be for emerging drivers, especially as it typically costs millions to make it to a seat in Formula 1 and other similar racing categories.

Sim racing continues to expand, as it increasingly connects traditional motorsport with the world of esports, and four-time F1 Drivers' Champion Max Verstappen has been at the forefront of that.

Founded over 20 years ago, the Dutchman's "Team Redline" is a professional Simulator Racing Team competing at the highest level of sim-racing esports. Over the years, Team Redline has established itself as a leading force in the competitive esports racing scene, winning numerous accolades in their respective categories and solidifying their reputation as the most successful simulator racing team of all time.

Team Redline boasts a roster of talented and experienced sim racers from all over the world, having a mix of real and virtual racing drivers, including sim legend Kevin Siggy. Now, the team has undergone a major change as it evolves into "Verstappen Sim Racing."

In a statement, Verstappen said, "Sim racing is a big passion of mine outside Formula 1, and Team Redline has been a big part of that. It is where I spend a lot of my time off track, and part of what I am building with Verstappen Racing."

"This step to Verstappen Sim Racing feels very natural. We're taking everything we've achieved and bringing it closer in line with the wider Verstappen Racing platform," he continued. "I've always believed that sim racing can develop real talent, and we're already seeing that with Chris Lulham. I'm really excited to keep building on the success of the team and see what the future holds."

Team boss Atze Kerkhof added, "Building on the legacy of Team Redline, Verstappen Sim Racing represents the next step in an era where sim racing is a true breeding ground for real-world talent. I'm excited about the future and look forward to continuing to grow and push this team forward."
